just say no....

i said i wasn't going to do this, but i can't stop myself.  why can't folk just say no?  i have a close friend/family member who can't tell folk no.  i tell her all the time to quit giving her number to folk she will complain about later.

i will admit i sometimes have a hard time telling people no...like my mom or my boss.  now a days i'm so off the hook, they aren't even left unharmed.  but complete strangers are fair game.  i guess that's why i had spells of being without male companionship (not that it was a bad thing).  i would tell joe blow in a minute to just leave me alone.  i remember out at a club before i became reattached...

dude:  hey girl, how you doing?  can i sit?
aqua:  ahhh, no.
dude:  you here with someone?
aqua:  no.
dude: you know what?  you have some sexy lips.
aqua:  yes, i know.  i see them everyday.  please go away.
dude: i just wanna know can i be your friend.
aqua: three seconds to tell me why i need another friend.
dude: ahhhhh.....
aqua: dude, get the hell out my face.

see that's how you do it.  when people generally have approached me for my number, i tell give them the following speech....

look (insert name here), i don't give people my number.  and don't waste time giving me yours.  i'll tell you right now, i'm not going to use.  i'm being real, not being mean.  as soon as you give me your number, i'm throwing it away, so just keep it.

that generally works.  if it doesn't then i pretend i've got a peg leg, i'm crazy or some stupid shit...haven't had a phone call from a crackhead yet :)

i'll tell 'em no eventually. i usually let them sit down and talk, though. i figure brotha might have some conversation and i'm always down for that.

but i do tell them no in the end if i'm not interested. i like you way too, though. sometimes i can look at a brotha and know he's not gonna say ish. in that case, i'm gonna start using your method.

I am going to use that the next time I am out. I have tendency to be either too accommadating or too damn evil and nasty when I don't feel like being bothered. This is a good balanced reaction to a "not understanding I am not interested until I spit in your eye" - kind of guy! LMAO!
